Fund Raisers
Troop 448 participates in a wide variety of activities year round geared to encourage our
Scouts to learn new skills and grow into confident leaders.
Our monthly outings include whitewater rafting, trap shooting, horseback riding, rappelling, backpacking,
canoing, kayaking, fishing, and of course camping.
In addition, we participate in a week long summer camp and at least one high adventure trip each year.
This year our older Scouts will accompany Venture Crew 448 on a two week trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New
Mexico.
Unfortunately, all of these activities come with a price tag that could easily overwhelm a family budget.
The last thing we want is for any Scout to miss out on an event because of money.
With this in mind we encourage our Scouts, families and friends to help us participate in several
year round fund raisers.
Every Scout in our Troop has an account where money raised from these fund raisers are deposited.
As money is needed to pay for an activity, the Scout has the option to use the funds in his account to either
partially or fully pay for the costs.
With the help of their families, many or our Scouts are able to raise enough
funds in their accounts to cover many of their outings.
Not only does this teach them the value of money but it also gives them a valuable lesson in self reliance.
Below is a list of just some of the opportunities available for a Scout to raise money.
Wednesday Lift Meals
Trinity United Methodist Church provides us with the opportunity to periodically raise funds for our
Troop by providing a meal to Church members once a month on Wednesday nights.
Proceeds from the Wednesday Lift Meal is divided among the Scouts that participate and is placed into their
Scout account.
Recycle
Many people may not know that we have a couple of year round opportunities that not only adds money
to the Scout's account but also helps the environment.
These programs are by recycling aluminum cans and printer ink cartridges.
Both of these don't require a lot of work and can become an easy habit to help the environment.
Get your family and friends to help you raise money!
Please rinse and collapse all cans before bringing them to Jane Brewer.
Old ink cartridges can be dropped off to Lisa Woods.
Kroger Gift Cards
Our Troop belongs to a fund raiser gift card program at Kroger.
This program earns each Scout a guaranteed 4% return on all their families purchases... including gasoline.
In order to participate in this fund raiser, parents need to request a $25 gift card from Lisa Woods.
Parents can reload additional money on their cards, as needed, at the check out register or customer
service prior to making purchases.
Once the Troop has reached a total of $5,000 in reloads, we receive a rebate check from Kroger.
Each Scout is given a Scout Account credit for their 4% earned.
At the present time, only three Troop families are actively participating in this EASY fund raiser.
It takes a while for these three families to total $5,000 in reloads.
However... we do eventually reach our reload requirement.
When the Kroger rebate check comes, it's "payday" for the families who participated.
If you already shop at Kroger... why not earn your Scout 4% of your purchases each month.
One small family of three earned over $150 last year from the Kroger gift card program.
See Lisa Woods for more information.
GFS Fun Funds
GFS offers a fund raiser program as well.
When Scout families using their GFS fund raiser card the Troop earns up to a 10% refund.
The refund is dependent on the amount of purchases over a period of time so the more that we participate
the more the Troop can earn.
If you forget your card, you can just tell them at checkout that you are with Troop 448.
